Peter specializes in the defense of medical malpractice claims. He has tried cases to verdict in both State and Federal Court and has appeared in medical malpractice cases before the Montana Supreme Court. Peter has represented numerous healthcare providers at the Montana Medical Legal Panel and before various state licensing boards.
Peter and other GLR lawyers serve as counsel for the Montana Medical Association. In 2013 and 2018, Peter served on the rules committee for the Montana Medical Legal Panel. Peter has given numerous presentations on risk management issues to healthcare providers and has written medical-legal advice columns for the MMA’s publication, The Bulletin. Peter has assisted the Family Medicine Residency of Western Montana and the WWAMI Medical Education Program with presentations on medical-legal issues.
Prior to moving to Montana Peter prosecuted approximately 50 criminal jury trials to verdict for the King County Prosecuting Attorney in Seattle, Washington. He also wrote and argued appeals before the appellate courts in Washington State. He is admitted to practice law in Montana, Washington, and the Federal District Court in Montana.
Peter grew up in Seattle after immigrating from Norway. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Washington and attended law school at Willamette University College of Law.
